Jogger Falls Victim to Credit Card-Swapping Syndicate

A tailor from Kuala Lumpur is shocked to find someone had entered her car and switched her credit cards with cards that belong to someone else. On Sunday, Ms Tong, who is 31 years old, from Subang Jaya, had left her car at Taman Tun Dr Ismail Mon’t Kiara park before going for a jog. After the jog, she came back and found that her car was unlocked. However, she was relieved to find her purse under the driver's seat where she had put it before she went for a jog. She thought that nothing had happen so she left. Later she received a call from her bank requesting her to verify some transactions that she had made. She was shocked when told that she had supposedly spent RM24,000, and she checked her purse, she found that her credit cards had been replaced with cards belonging to another person. According to MCA Public Services and Complaints department head Datuk Michael Chong, a syndicate target women that go for jogs and to fitness centers, he added that the syndicate members will not take any valuable belongings but exchange the owner's credit card with credit cards that are from the same bank.

Thieves are definitely getting smarter and smarter as each day goes by, who ever thought that they would actually exchange credit cards only and not take valuable belongings, this would make the owner not know that they have actually took their credit cards and replaced them with credit cards that belong to another person because the fact that their purses are actually there will make the owner think that nothing had happened. Therefore, we as victims have to be more careful and know that we should not leave our purses or anything valuable inside the car whether you are just going to buy something, for a jog and more.
